Geir has been working as a high school teacher since he finished his master degree in Biology at the University of Bergen in 1993. He has always done some sort of fishing, but the spinning rods were forgotten after he bought his first fly rod in 1996. Luckily his first fly rod was a 15’ spey rod and he could start his spey casting practise straight away. The first years the goal for the spey casting practise was to reach out to the salmon, but the amount of practice gradually increased after entering his first spey casting competition in 2007. Geir got his best competition results so far in 2013 when he won the Knut syrstad award for the longest cast at SOR and at the same time broke the world record by casting 191’ in SOR. He did also win the 18’ competition in Nordic Championship in Tampere Finland and the well known Spey-O-Mega competition in Ireland this year. Geir has been a member of the Nextcast team since day one.
